It looks like Fewell is the direct opposite of Sheridan... From what I read, he gets excited, he yells, he encourages, and has a game plan the players like on paper. Sheridan not so much!
The Defense on paper looks strong with depth at every position, but linebacker. The Giants definitely have done everything for Defense the last two years but shake up the MLB position. I think he has his work cut out for him at linebacker. What does he have up his sleeve?
Can Fewell mold a Rookie to take over at MLB week one? I doubt it, Jumal can't trust it, and Tony from Lodi doesn't get it. Goff is a smart kid, but will he be physical enough? Will he start off the bat and never look back...we'll see? Who else is there at MLB? Blackburn is a great special teams guy, but didn't have the D's trust.
Last year's linebackers and safeties killed our opportunities to keep offenses in check. This year Fewell has safeties to work with... Linebackers... Anybody out there???
Fewell was quoted, "I'm going to demand that we be physical and play physical. The Giants defense is a physical defense, and we know that from history. I want to return to that defense."
Trivia- What SEC team did Jonathan Goff lead in tackles his junior and senior year?

A Response to Angry Kevin
" kevin said...
thanks for giving the heads up on the draft watching party at capes NOT wth ?!?!?! Unbelievable... Kevin
April 24, 2010 5:02 PM"
You didn't know!!! I smell a conspiracy! I blame the Dallas Cowboys. How could this be? You are our only reader! You were a victim of Apathy? Let me think...
The issue here is not whether we failed to inform you about our little draft party or the fact that we took a few liberties with our female party guests Thursday -
We did. ; )
Kevin, you can't hold the whole Big Blue DFW crew responsible for the behavior of a few, sick twisted individuals.
For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the New York Giants? And if the New York Giants are guilty, then isn't this an indictment of the entire NFL in general?
I put it to you, Kevin - isn't this an indictment of our entire American society and this great country.
Well, you can do and say whatever you want to us, but we're not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America and Commissioner Roger Goodell!
Oh sure we can offer you an apology....BUT YOU Sir, may expect too much news from our small blog! Well, we try damn you!!!

The New York Giants take Jason Pierre-Paul
Well the number 15 pick came and went. The Giants take Jason Pierre-Paul. There was very little excitement with this pick among big blue dfw fans at Cape Buffalo Thursday night. Now what? We have another Defensive End.
Did Osi throw something at his tv and demand a trade ? Where does Osi go now? St. Louis so we can trade him for the number 33 rd pick? Nope! Weatherspoon was taken on a reach by the Atlanta Falcons.
We will just have to see...
All I know is we still do not have a dominant Middle Linebacker as well Jacobs and Bradshaw are thrilled we did not ge a chance to pick Spiller!
Dems da breaks sports fans.

Giants will draft McClain or wait...Maybe...
CJ Spiller.
What... CJ SPILLER!
Thats right Big Blue DFW. You heard it here first. After 22 days of begging, pleading and hounding for just one more pick. "Just give me one more for the blog", I asked Peter in a text April 2nd at 2:48 PM.
Well, the 22 days of silence was broken this morning, Peter "LT" Nguyen, text me simply, " Spiller,RB."
And quote, "JR asked me to call him to check his cell number in case he fall to us!" Followed by another text, "Post it ASAP!"
Peter was the insider on the cell phone gate! More to come on this crazy draft day. Will Peter give us yet another hot draft pick?

Update- April 22 8:24 AM
Can't trust it-
"If cj's around at that time then you can't trust it...the best rb in the draft is gotta be of some use to one of the fourteen teams, unless there's a trade which would probably put osi on the block, which is never good to trade defense for any rook"-Jmall

Update- April 22nd 11:02AM
My cell phone is blowing up with texts and emails. Some actually doubting Peter's sources. I appreciate his extra pick for the blog, but here are just a few to read in response to Peter's latest pick.
"WTF Peter? 3 deadlines pass and he reads an article the day of the draft. Sorry buddy...you're stuck with McClain even if he's awesome for another team."- Dirty
"Whoa whoa whoa Big P -take it easy with the Spiller talk. You had me sold on McClain...what gives? " - Vito in Paramus

The Demolition of Giants Stadium
February 4th was the beginning of the end for Giants Stadium. Demolition of our home field should end by the summer of 2010 leaving room for more parking. Not to mention, further burying Jimmy Hoffa another 20 feet below the Meadowlands where he can rest in peace beneath the tailgaters. Which should lead to another post in the future.
Nonetheless, there is the New Giants Stadium (the only name that will leave my lips) next door ready to usher in a new era of New York Giants Football. A stadium some say was not needed. A stadium that some say was only built to perpetuate the greed and power of NFL owners. I say to all naysayers, down with the old and in with the new. No one cried when we left the Polo Grounds! Well maybe Dick did...but I say embrace progress. Demolish the old and bury the dead before they stink up the joint.
Stay tuned for an exclusive update by SteveNYC. He will be doing a field report from the New Giants Stadium. Note- As I watched a video of the signature walkways being crunched by long reach excavator, I noticed familiar faces on site. Faces of the past... Just as I suspected!

News -New York Giant Girl
According to TMR, Queens native Reby Sky has been announced as Miss Howard TV of the Year! http://www.tmrzoo.com/?p=9524
As a Fan of the Howard Stern Show and the New York Giants Girl, I would like to be the first from www.bigbluedfw.com to say, "Congratulations Reby! The Giants and Howard TV fans have spoken."
Your dedication to the New York Football Giants is quite impressive. Howard Stern could not have a better Miss Howard TV. Serve the crown well.
When asked about the news, Giants fan, Bobby Nightclub replied, "That's one nutty broad, but thank God she's on our side!"
Tony from Lodi, NJ said, "diss is great news...I knew a guy who knew a guy that GOT IT ON!"
Tony, funny, but no you didn't.

AND WITH THE #15 PICK OF THE DRAFT THE NEW YORK GIANTS PICK
Well I'm not going to stick Peter with the lone responsibility of picking a draft pick. My choice is likely to change over the course of the next 43 days but here is my first attempt.
I'm going to say that the Giants will use the #15 pick in the draft for Dan Williams, defensive tackle out of Tennessee. I might change my mind on this because Dan Williams looks slated more for a 3-4 defense. But since we don't know what Perry Fewell is doing, scheme wise, I think Dan Williams will be an athlete to be had.
With the loss of Fred Robbins the DTs are Canty, Cofield, Bernard, and Alford. Alford was out all year and Canty might as well have been. Cofield was average and Bernard sucked more balls than a Florida State cheerleader (filthy). Fred Robbins and Dan Williams match up close in size. That said, the Giants are going to need a new DT. Brian Price (UCLA) is available and he appears to be more athletic and stronger but had a weak combine and doesn't seem to be as quick as Williams. Not to mention that Dan Williams was a starter for almost his whole collegiate career. I think he'll be a guy who can grab a double team and open a gap for the Giants to make a comeback on what everybody wants to see most from a Giants defense........PASSRUSH.
Now comes the why. Here is why I'm picking Dan Williams. First, what are the Giants glaring needs? Most people would say it's Linebacker, Defensive Back and possibly Defensive Tackle. Everyone wants Rolando McClain. I'm thinking he will go sooner than number 15. He's a 3-4 defense guy that's good in coverage. Since 3-4 is used more often in the NFL I think someone is likely to pick him up sooner. With the addition of Rolle I think the Giants are less likely to pick up a DB in the first round. Even if Kenny Phillips doesn't make it back right away, (Please GOD say it ain't so) you've still got Ross and Webster outside and Rolle and Thomas inside. As for linebacker, there are still guys like Sergio Kindle or Brandon Spikes, but I'm thinking you'll still be able to pick up somebody in the 2nd round. Plus it appears that Kirk Morrison with the Raiders is still available and might be a worthwhile look at for the Mike Linebacker position. Speaking of Mike linebackers. Morrison reminds me of one of North Jersey's finest, Mike McNamara. A sly fox on the hunt who's not afraid to tackle someone and introduce them to the turf.
More to follow but this is a start for conversation purposes.
